What a fun place. Each of the people who worked today we're kind, intelligent, and helpful. The animals were well taken care of, with clean enclosures, shade, and toys.

Reptile cage conditions were poor and needed thorough cleanings. One of the Casowaries had a very large wound to its beak and bridge. Many cages needed cleaning and maintenance. I did file a report with the State and County as well as 2 animal welfare leagues. I can appreciate their history but it seems as though they are underfunded and zoo's cannot afford such a position. I hope they can turn it around.

This is a true hidden gem in Maryland I most definitely enjoyed the staff, the animals and all the knowledge shared about thewildlife there. The Safari ride was awesome to be so close to the animals made you forget you were in Maryland. I most definitely visit again.

If it weren't for Groupon, I would not have known this zoo existed. It's a small park, but has many animals and seems well run. I went on a colder day, but imagine that in the spring or summer things would be more lively. I am glad that so many tropical birds have a good place to live after their owners were not able to.care for them.

Perfect day trip from NOVA.

A few things...it is pricey. They take care of animals. It's expensive. The cafe was closed. We went it off season. We brought a picnic lunch.

Great place to bring your children! Right off 15. Prices have gone up in recent years, however, the zoo has expanded a lot as well. We bring our children here once a year and every year there has been something new. They do offer cups of food to feed some of the animals for $3 a cup. Petting zoo here as well, they have alpaca, deer, and goats that you can pet and feed. You can expect to spend about 2-3 hours here. It is typically busy, but not crowded by any comparison to a big city zoo. I highly recommend this place for families looking for a nice day trip.
